new faculty workshopsNew Faculty Workshops are held August and January of each year. These workshops are intended to provide new faculty members with essential information about teaching (designing instruction, selecting strategies, evaluating students, etc.) and help them develop cross-department contacts with other new people. Although the majority of participants are junior faculty members with little teaching experience, many attendees are seasoned teachers from other institutions. The benefit to the latter group is that they receive a "refresher" in pedagogy and learn about the students at UNC and the way the University operates. Evaluations from the workshops indicate that the participants learn important lessons about teaching, and up to one-third of those attending the sessions become clients of the Center afterward.
